The following schedule is offered as an example. Flexibility is encouraged to allow children’s interest to determine each day’s specific schedule.
9 am Arrival
Free Exploration Time: structured to allow both individual and quiet opportunities as well as partner and group play
Music and Movement Time: both structured time with a teacher-led circle around piano, guitar, banjo, etc. and free jam sessions with student instruments; opportunities for dance, yoga, dramatic play, dress-up and puppetry
9:45am Circle Time: teacher led storytelling and curriculum discussion; student lead responses to current interest
10:30am Snack Time: a seasonal tea and organic breakfast snack is available
11am Quiet Individual Play Time: students independently choose a project and practice sustaining focus while receiving 1:1 teacher engagement
11:30am Outdoor Exploration, Art, and Garden Time: earth science exploration and discovery; free-form expression of creativity as well as teacher-guided activities that explore current areas of study and basic concepts of art; and good old-fashioned play in the backyard or Mt. Tabor Park
1pm Lunch Time: a seasonal organic meal prepared with student helpand food from the garden whenever possible
1:45pm Quiet Library Time: A chance for students to relax and work quietly with books, puzzles, journaling and drawing until dismissal
2 pm End of School Day
